Exercises For Herniated Disc, Disc Step Wise Treatment for Slipped Disc Recovery

Introduction:

Herniated disc and disc bulge are common conditions that affect the spine. These conditions can be caused by a variety of factors, including age, injury, poor posture, or degenerative diseases. The symptoms of herniated disc and disc bulge can be debilitating, including pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness. Fortunately, there are several treatments and exercises that can help manage the symptoms and speed up recovery.

Treatment Options:

1. Rest: Rest is often the first line of treatment for herniated disc and disc bulge. This means avoiding activities that exacerbate the symptoms, such as lifting heavy objects or bending over. Bed rest may also be recommended in severe cases.

2. Physical Therapy: Physical therapy can help strengthen the muscles surrounding the spine and improve flexibility. A physical therapist can create a customized exercise program to target the specific areas affected by the herniated disc or disc bulge. The exercises may include stretches, core strengthening, and low-impact aerobic exercises.

3. Medication: Over-the-counter pain relievers, such as acetaminophen or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), can help manage the pain associated with herniated disc and disc bulge. In severe cases, prescription pain medication may be necessary.

4. Injections: Corticosteroid injections can be used to reduce inflammation and relieve pain. These injections are administered directly into the affected area.

5. Surgery: In severe cases, surgery may be necessary to remove the damaged portion of the disc. This is typically a last resort and is only recommended if other treatments have been unsuccessful.

Exercises:

1. Pelvic Tilt: Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor.

2. Knee to Chest: Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Slowly bring one knee up to your chest and hold for 5 seconds.

3. Cat-Cow: Begin on your hands and knees with your wrists directly under your shoulders and your knees directly under your hips. Exhale and round your spine, tucking your chin to your chest and bringing your tailbone towards your knees. Repeat 10 times.

4. Hip Bridge: Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Lift your hips up towards the ceiling, squeezing your glutes at the top. Hold for 5 seconds and release. Repeat 10 times.

5. Bird Dog: Extend your right arm and left leg straight out in front of you, keeping your core tight.                          6. Wall Sits: Stand with your back against a wall and your feet shoulder-width apart.

7. Hamstring Stretches: Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Straighten one leg and lift it towards the ceiling, holding onto your thigh or calf. Hold for 30 seconds and release. Repeat on the other leg. Repeat 5 times on each leg.
